Do you ever get the feeling that your free time is a drag? It seems like there’s never anything to do, and it feels like all of your favorite hobbies are just too much work. Well, I’m here to tell you that this doesn’t have to be the case! In this blog post, we will talk about 7 ways to make your alone time more enjoyable.

1. Plan a Day of Activities for Yourself

Planning a day of activities for yourself is one great way to make your free time more fun. You can start by looking through all the hobbies you enjoy and filling in what you want to do that day. If it’s not something you’re really into, find another activity! For example, if I wanted to work on my novel today, I could do that in the morning and then go for a walk with my dog later.

Then you can make your schedule based on what times work best for each activity. For example, if I wanted to watch an episode of “Friends” at night after dinner but knew it would be too late by the time my dog woke up, I could plan to do that in the afternoon instead.

And finally, you can actually schedule these activities on your calendar. This is really important because it’ll remind you of what’s coming up and let others know of your plans!

2. Dedicate Time to Your Favorite Hobby

One of the best ways to make your alone time more enjoyable is by dedicating some time each day to your favorite hobby. Doing this will help you feel like there’s always something for you to do, and it’ll also give you a sense of accomplishment when you’re done.

So if you enjoy cooking, make sure to dedicate at least an hour or two a day to it. This isn’t only beneficial because of the time you spend working on your hobby; this will also help give yourself some ideas for more things you can do during your free time! For example, maybe you go grocery shopping and buy some ingredients to try a new recipe. But then you remember that you’ve always wanted to learn how to make pasta, so you go home and do that instead!

You could also dedicate time between your work hours for a hobby. Maybe there’s something in the evenings when it’ll be quieter and less likely for distractions?

3. Enjoy Some Vaping

Do you enjoy smoking cigarettes? If so, maybe it’s time to switch over to vaping. The act of vaping is really relaxing and can be great for your alone time! And if you don’t want more nicotine than usual, you could always buy e-liquids that have a lower concentration.

Vaping is much better for your health than smoking cigarettes, and it’s also a lot cheaper in the long run. Plus, there are different flavors to try out! And if you can’t decide on one flavor for your e-juice purchase, just buy an assortment pack. As seen at, there are cartridges, Edibles, Concentrates, flower, shatter, and much more to try out. If you’re with friends, try vaping together. You could buy a starter kit and share it with the group! This will give your experience more of an all-around feel since others can do what they enjoy while still around people who care about them.

4. Watch Your Favorite TV Show or Movie

One of the best ways to enjoy your free time is by watching something that you love. Whether it’s an episode of a TV show or a movie from Netflix- this will help pass the time and give you some light entertainment.

You can make your experience more enjoyable by inviting other people who like the same thing as well! You could even watch the TV show or movie with them and then have a viewing party afterward.

Or if you want to be alone for your viewing session, that’s totally fine too! Maybe find other things to do while you’re watching- like checking out new recipes on YouTube, painting something in your art journal, or writing another chapter of your novel.

5. Take a Long Bath with Candles and Music

This is a great way to relax and unwind from the day. Just combine your favorite bath products with candles, music, or both for an experience that’s all about you! Add in some relaxing items like a cup of tea or lavender oil. Then turn off all the lights and enjoy being alone while still feeling safe and secure.

This can also be a great way to wind down before bed. If you do this, just make sure that your bathroom area is well-ventilated so the candles won’t cause too much smoke.

6. Read an Interesting Book, Magazine, or Blog Post About Something You’re Interested In

One of the best forms of research is reading about it. And if you’re stuck at home during your free time, then that means you have plenty of opportunities to do just that! When choosing a book or magazine to read, make sure you choose something in common with what interests you. For instance, maybe there’s an article about a style you’re interested in or something related to your favorite hobby.

You could also read blogs online similar to what you like- this is often easier than trying to find the same information from print sources since it’s much more convenient and accessible on their sites.

7. Go on a Walk Around the Neighborhood Alone and Take Note of all the Details That Make it Special to You

If you enjoy walking, then this is a great way to spend your time. One of the best things about walks is that they’re straightforward and inexpensive- even if you don’t have transportation or other means to get out!

You might want to go on an adventure by going somewhere new. Or maybe there’s a place in your area that you’ve never been to before. And if you enjoy walking, then this is also a great opportunity to exercise- which can help relieve stress! If you want some company on your walk, invite someone interested in going too. You could even bring along the family dog for fun and safety purposes, so it doesn’t feel like you’re really alone.

While it may sound counterintuitive, we all need to have some time alone sometimes. Whether you’re a student who needs time to study or an entrepreneur looking to recharge while on vacation, the key is knowing how to make this solitary experience enjoyable and productive.
